Roy Cox studied film & tv production in college and shortly thereafter started his own video production company. This is where his lighting and camera skills began and grew. He left video production to start his still photography career and opened his first studio in late 2002. He served his first clients in a very small 400 square foot studio in Baltimore, Maryland. His client base grew quickly in the first few years and this success lead to the addition of another 1000 square feet to his studio and office space in 2007.
During this time he also developed a growing internship program that served students and adults from as far away as Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Roy has continued his commitment to teaching the technical, creative, and business aspects of photography to hundreds of interns over the past 20 years.
Shortly after his start Roy Cox became one of the most recognized names in promotional and commercial photography in the DMV area. He became well known for his cinematic lighting and unique shooting style. Roy provides promotional photography for actors, musicians, athletes, and professionals in a variety of fields, and advertising/campaign photography for commercial clients and companies of all sizes.
In October 2021 Roy and his team moved into a beautiful new studio in Baltimore, MD. It’s one of the largest private photography studios in the area. He’s shot well over 10 thousand people over his 20+ years in photography and his client list continues to grow each and every year.
